What is a circumcision?
Circumcision is a common procedure which involves cutting the skin covering of the head of the penis (foreskin). It may be done for medical reasons such as narrowing of the foreskin (phimosis) or for religious or traditional reasons.
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic for babies and under local or general anaesthetic for children or adults
We perform a surgical circumcision without the use of clamps or leaving a ring behind such as in the Plastibell technique. The foreskin is cut with complete control over how much skin is removed. Dissolving sutures are used to ensure the risk of bleeding is minimal.
